Deaf people are related to multidisciplinary studies, involving medical, social, educational and linguistic fields, among others. In this context, many people use sign languages ​​to communicate, forming a user community with its own identity and culture. However, few systems offer forms of representation of sign language for deaf users. The aim of this study is to identify, analyze and propose strategies and artifacts for representing sign language in OJS. An alternative is to use vídeolets, small snippets of videos encoded for the web. However this alternative is more resource intensive, requiring interpreters, recording studio and video editing. Thus it is investigated the feasibility of SignWriting, a sign language notation system, in creating a bilingual journal in Portuguese and Brazilian Sign Language, with translated interface for sign language using written signs. SignWriting symbols can be applied to the interface translation, even if the scientific publications terminology in sign language is not yet formalized. In fact, the translation task provides a means for defining a language corpus related to scientific journals. This corpus will be registered in the online dictionary SignPuddle, from which the signals will be incorporated into OJS. The study shows that this form of presentation is feasible and can also support other deaf communities in the world, because the SignWriting fits any sign language. This contributes to the expansion and adaptation of OJS for more specific community of users.
